(Un)familiar
A handful of people got together one sunday to paint a cheerful collection of cast-off furniture. The following sunday they claimed a parking space in the Junction and created an instant public living room. People were invited to talk and relax, share space while they drank their coffee.

Parking Day is an international day where people are encouraged to pay for a parking spot and fill it with a temporary installation. The idea is to re-frame our assumptions about the spaces we share, and to highlight how much public space is dedicated to automobiles.
For parking day in 2016, the Spur Collective, a loose group of public space obsessed designers, installed (Un)familiar in the Junction in Toronto, a simple way to start conversations between strangers.
