Secure Personal Access (SPA)
As a response to the homelessness crisis in downtown Los Angeles, a group of local citizens are working to develop a hygiene centre that provides showers and basic personal services to people experiencing homelessness in Skid Row. Following on a community planning effort that mapped out priorities for immediate and long-term needs for the neighbourhood, this project is meant to fit into a larger plan towards a more supportive and healthy Skid Row. ​ For more info check out 'Our Skid Row':

SPA or secure personal access is meant to be a space where people experiencing homelessness can find refuge from the streets for personal hygiene. Access to temporary storage for belongings is available while people do laundry, shower and clean up for free. The aesthetic of the space is meant to be warm and homey, as opposed to sterile and institutional-hence the acronym 'SPA'.

I worked with the SPA group to develop concept drawings and basic schematic design to aid in fundraising and partnership development in 2016. For updated information see:
